○ HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT ○
Balasaheb Desai College Patan was established in June 1969 with mission to impart higher education to youth residing in Patan Tehsil. The college is catering to the educational needs of this backward rural, earthquake prone, hilly area of Maharashtra. In the year 1990, Geography of Tourism as a Inter Disciplinary Subject (IDS) for course B.A.II and Commercial & Marketing Geography Subject for course B.Com.I was started

1) | To understand the scope and evolution of the diverse discipline of Geography. |
2) | To Acquiring the ability to interpret the distribution and processes of physical and human phenomena. |
○ OBJECTIVES
1) | To provide students with knowledge about the earth’s natural environment and its relationship to society. |
2) | To know Geographical facts, concepts, processes, interactions, principles, theories and trends. |
3) | To bring Geographical awareness among the people to solve day to day environmental problems. |
4) | Use and apply geographical knowledge and understanding to interpret and evaluate geographical data and Interpret maps, tables, graphs and photographs. |

3) | Department organizes Weather Instruments Exhibitions, etc. to boost knowledge of the students in the Geography Subject |
4) | Study tours are conducted to study various geographical phenomenas, i.e. Land forms, Drainage system, natural visitation ect. |
