History of the Department:
The Department of Microbiology was started in the academic year 1993 in demand of students. The level of teaching initiated was at Undergraduate.
The first batch of T. Y. B. Sc. students with Microbiology as subject of specialization passed out in 2021- 22. With the immense efforts of Management, Principals and faculty, the Microbiology department is now standing with successful completion of three graduate batches of Microbiology. Most of the students well-placed alumni are doing extremely well in India and abroad. The department presently has three well qualified staff members, one well-equipped laboratories, and a non-teaching staff members. The department has a history of very good results of about 90% students passing with flying colors every year.
Our students have been well placed in research, academics and other areas. We continuously arrange workshops, seminars, guest lectures and demonstrations for our students. This has helped them groom their career. The faculty also remains consistently engaged in conferences and seminars, both nationally and internationally, and have achieved recognition and awards in these events. Quality teaching, good infrastructure and shining results have acquired our department very good name in students. This is reflected by demand for B. Sc. admissions in large numbers. We have a strong alumni association who are our asset and a continuous help and support for us.
Huge number of Subject specific essential reference books were available in central library. This has helped the students to inculcate into themselves a habit of referencing. Currently, the Department of Microbiology has one research mentors Dr. Manisha Sapkal working as research guide affiliated to Shivaji university Kolhapur. To date, the department’s faculty has successfully completed significant research projects, with funding of from different sources like UGC and BCUD. We aim to provide quality education and develop scientific and research aptitude amongst students. Along with academics, students are encouraged to take up research projects and internships in various industries
