History of the Department:
The Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology (B.COM-IT) is a 4-year undergraduate program started in 2022-23. It's affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra. The course is designed for students interested in computer applications and information technology, preparing them to design computer-based solutions for various fields like industry, commerce, science, entertainment, and the public sector.
This program covers various areas of computer applications and includes the latest industry developments. It aims to bridge the gap between IT industries and educational institutes with a curriculum that reflects current trends. The department boasts dedicated faculty members, modern computer labs, and a Wi-Fi enabled environment. The library, with its physical and digital resources, helps students stay updated on industry trends.
The Placement Cell provides pre-placement training and recruitment opportunities, helping students enter the computing industry. Additionally, the department offers short-term courses in web designing, web AI with DevOps, and data science for students in different years. It also runs skill development courses in IT careers, web technology, and app development. To ensure this, with the able guidance of our Principal. Dr. S.D. Pawar the department conducts various student-oriented activities like seminars, workshops, guest lectures, webinars, field visits, and projects.
The B.COM-IT program provides a strong foundation for students aiming for successful careers in the IT field, meeting international standards. After completing this course, graduates can pursue higher studies such as M.Com-IT, MCA (Master of Computer Applications), MBA (Master of Business Administration), and other advanced degrees at UGC-recognized universities or reputable institutions in India and abroad.
